The roll of physiotherapy is to speed and enhance the body's own natural healing mechanisms. It is of vital importance for an early assessment and diagnosis of the injury so as to minimize time lost from work and leisure activities, training/competition.
Physiotherapy is a science-based healthcare profession which views movement as central to health and well being. Physiotherapists aim to find a solution to your problems within a short course of treatments, and to educate the patient of the importance of self management and preventive advice.
The physiotherapy used at The Physio Clinic is a very hands-on manual therapy. It combines the use of:
- Massage
- Muscle stretching
- Joint mobilization
- Joint manipulation
- Electrotherapy
- Acupuncture
- Home exercise rehabilitation programmes
- Preventive advice
- Personal training
- Gym & Exercise Therapy
Joint mobilization is a very gentle way to release fixated joints, using painfree harmonic oscillations to increase the range of movement of the affected area. Joint manipulation involves a controlled trust technique to free the affected joint. Massage is always applied prior to a manipulation to loosen tight muscle tissue and relax the area.
PODIATRY
Lower limb injuries and even knee, hip and back pain can be the result of poor foot function. If necessary, during consultation, the feet will be examined for correct biomechanical alignment.
