Electrotherapy helps to relieve pain and accelerate the healing process, usually combined with hands on treatments and rarely used in isolation.
A variety of different modalities are used including: ultrasound, Interferential, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) combination electrotherapy and deep oscillation.
Deep oscillation therapy is slowly becoming popular in this country, yet it has been developed and used in Germany for the last 20 years. It is applied using either a hand applicator or by special gloves connected to the machine. The client is also connected via a titanium element held between the fingers.
During the application the tissues will be thoroughly 'kneaded' by mechanical force. Only minimum pressure is needed, so the technique can be used on the most sensitive areas or even in the vicinity of open wounds.
Deep Oscillation is particularly beneficial in:
- Stimulating wound healing
- Oedema & Haematoma reduction
- Respiratory problems
- Stimulating stagnating chronic healing processes
- Improving manual lymphatic drainage
- Accelerated regeneration in cases of trauma (Sports injuries)
- Anti-inflammatory and pain relief
- Can be applied at a very early stage of injury to influence and accelerate the regeneration processes
